Dear Dr. Prescott:
Thank you for your interesting letter of 15 February 2006.
Unfortunately, taking sides on controversial public health issues is
beyond my responsibilities as the editor of our impartial scientific

Dear Dr. Halstead,
Regret that you cannot get involved.
Would you like me to prepare an article for The American Journal of
Clinical Nutrition that brings attention to the increasing evidence
that infant formula feeding contributes to malnutrition of brain
development, which the American Academy of Pediatrics and the
NICHD/NIH refuse to acknowledge. I have requested that the
NICHD/NIH conduct the necessary studies on the beneficial effects of
long-term breastfeeding on brain-behavioral development without
success and which Dr. Alexander has admitted there is no good data, my
cross cultural studies not withstanding. Given the established
deficits of the essential amino acid of tryptophan in infant
formula milk, this certainly is a scientific problem and of
individual/public health that falls within your
jurisdiction.
Our society is disintegrating before our
eyes. Is this not enough evidence to become alarmed and take action to
ensure the emotional health of future generations of our
children?
Sincerely,
James W Prescott, Ph.D.
